Go one step further for the climate

In November this year the UN climate talks (COP26) are coming to Glasgow. We all know how important it is we get a deal which helps to break the climate crisis.
But for countries in the global South there’s a huge issue that could be make or break in how they are able to respond – debt.

With 52 countries already in debt crisis, campaigners and leaders from global South countries are demanding debt cancellation so that they can have some hope of adapting and rebuilding in the face of the climate crisis. Not only are they being ignored by rich countries, but worse still, climate disasters are leading to more debt.

Dominica, in the Caribbean, faced a category five hurricane, intensified by the climate crisis. Already in debt before the hurricane hit, they came out of it with an extra $1.3billion costs in damages. It’s a vicious cycle.

This issue is crucial, so we’re asking if you can go one step further. Could you meet with your MP?

This is one of the most impactful ways you can take action at this time, but we know it’s a big commitment. You don’t need any experience and we’ll support you every step of the way.
